about
Backstep Blues was written and recorded during a ten hour session at Metalworks in 2015, alongside a sweet, sweet jam penned by Alex Hamilton and a very early version of Blues to Tear My Body Down.
Daniel was on acoustic guitar and vocals, James was on electric guitar, Alex Hamilton was on bass and we're not honestly sure who is on drums; even Kevin Dietz, our engineer on this track, gave it a shot.
Dan has wanted to release it for years, but since it isn't really a Dorval song, the band decided collectively that it should be included as a bonus track to A Match Made in Toronto. Sean Kudryk slaved over mixing and mastering the track to great success.
Thank you for buying the EP! All the money made from this purchase will go directly into recording our full-scale album. We look forward to seeing you at one of our shows!

lyrics
I’ve been sittin’ on my back porch baby,
I’ve been smokin’ and waitin’ on you.
I’ve been livin’ in a haze, lover,
This your last chance to pull me through.
My baby’s so cold, it ain’t fair,
My baby’s colder than a frigid air.
I’ve been sittin’ on this backporch chair, honey,
I’ve been drinkin’ and waitin’ on you.
I’ve been livin’ off my lust, lover,
If you want to persue it, better do it soon.
My baby’s so bad, she don’t care,
My baby’s colder than a frigid air.
I’ve been sittin’ on this backstep, baby,
I’ve been thinkin’ and waitin’ on you.
I’ve been livin’ with a stop sign in my mind,
And if I ran that red, I wouldn’t care what you said.
My baby’s so bad it ain’t fair,
My baby’s colder than a frigid air.
